Background:

Tessa was born in 1043 A.A., as Shannara Adriani Tagore. She was the only
child of the patron and matron of House Tagore. House Tagore was a
noble house of mediocre size and repute, with several men serving as guards
and soldiers, and several of the women serving in various crafts. Despite
her noble blood, Tessa was a wild child. On more than one occasion she'd
skip her lessons to go play with the halflings in the city, and on more
than one occasion she returned home covered in dirt or mud with her expensive
dresses ripped or torn. This earned her the disdain of many of her relatives.
Her parents were never thrilled, but were satisfied enough that their child
was living happily. Tessa was always close to her parents, as they were her
only close relatives. While she related to all in House Tagore either by blood
or from marriages, all of those related to her by blood were very distant.
Regardless, Tessa managed to live very happily throughout the beginning of
her childhood.

Then one day, her life started to fall apart. One day when visiting the town
market with her father, they encountered a drunken tshahark. When her father
tried to help the tshahark, it attacked her father in a drunken rage, which
led to his death. The tshahark was later captured and executed, but it brought
no relief to Tessa, who just saw her father die before her own eyes. Within
the next few days, her mother died in her sleep, from the grief of losing her
husband so suddenly. With the patron and matron of the House dead, a new
leading figure had to be decided. Tessa, being the former patron and matron's
child, was the ideal choice. But due to her still being a child, and the rest
of the House loathing her, a different person was decided.

After her parents' death, Tessa was mostly mistreated in the House. She was
constantly abused, physically and verbally, until finally she had enough. She
ran from her home. Having no place to go, she ran into the forest, and kept
running until she ran out of breath. It was then that she realized that she
got herself lost. She rarely left ElvanDar, and when she did, she always
kept the city walls within sight. Now she was surrounded by nothing but trees.
She was cold, hungry, and thirsty, but with no energy, nor knowledge of survival,
she had no idea what to do. With the horrific realization she was probably going
to die, she attempted to snuggle up against some rocks near the bushes to keep
warm. Unfortunately, it was the beginning of winter, and she was not dressed for
the weather, so her attempt was in vain.

Eventually she fell asleep. By a stroke of luck, a lumberjack found her while
exploring the forest, and took her back to ArboRea to nurse her back to health.
The man was a miner and lumberjack in his older age. Both his wife and daughter
had died from disease, so he was left alone. However, both he and Tessa grew
close. Tessa spent some years with him, living in ArboRea while he worked as a
lumberjack, and spending time in the Underground while he worked in the mines.
Tessa took this time to learn about humans and dwarves in person, rather than
working from what she read about them during her boring lessons. During this time,
Tessa adopted a new name for her new life. One of the first things that she
thought of was the garden of the manor she grew up in. The garden was called
the 'Moonglade Garden', though her father oftentimes jokingly referred to it as
the 'Moonglade Asset' due to the small profit made from the herbs and plants that
grew there. And so Tessa adopted 'Moonglade' as her last name, and 'asset' spelled
backwards as her first name, Tessa.

The time Tessa spent with the lumberjack was peaceful, and lasted for a number of
years. Unfortunately, the short life-span eventually caught up to the old
lumberjack, and he passed away quietly one night. Tessa mourned after his death,
but she never felt sad. She brought happiness to his life, and so he was able to
die contently - he even had a smile on his face when he passed away. She spent some
time in the company of Thiorban, an old eccentric dwarf who she quickly befriended
during one of her first visits to the Underground. However, at this time, she had
grown up, and wanderlust finally got to her. And so she set out to explore the world.

During her time of traveling, Tessa took up several occupations, such as being
an alchemist, and a bard. However, she was always in pursue of a place to belong,
or a group of people to consider family. Using this as leverage, a member of the
thieves guild known as the Shadow Lurkers approached her about joining, offering
her just what she was yearning for. And so she accepted, and joined the guild.
The offer was sincere. She finally found something to belong to, and her fellow
Lurkers cared for her and took care of her, even willing to put themselves in
danger for her safety. However, the life of a thief was not one she wished to
pursue, and despite her success in the guild, she sought a way out of it.

Eventually, the guild was exposed, and the members were hunted down by the Taniel
Clergy and Crusaders. The guild was left in shambles, many members only caring to
save their own hides at the time. Tessa, and a few others, took this opportunity
to leave the guild. Ironically, shortly after their leaving, the guild headquarters
were raided and destroyed by the Taniel Clergy and Crusaders, leaving the guild
disbanded.

During her time in the thieves, Tessa met a man named Ocee, with whom she fell in
love with. They both cherished each other dearly, and even wed and had a child
(named Belinus) together. But due to several complications, they split up, which
left Tessa with an empty feeling that she still has today.

Some time after the destruction of the Shadow Lurkers, Tessa and her close friend
Ezdreli decided to join the Rangers. However, due to the loss of Ocee, the Shadow
Lurkers, and the troubles she faced as a known thief, Tessa became paranoid and
isolated, which ultimately led to her expulsion from the Rangers for various
reasons. At that time, Tessa tricked AlamarMeric into spreading word of her suicide,
to avoid being hunted by her former guild. She spent some time in a halfelf village
near Cliffhaven, raising her son. During this time, she met Blizt and Tatiana
while they were visiting Tatiana's parents, and ended up befriending them both.
When Blizt and Tatiana decided to return to the more populated areas of Forostar,
Tessa decided to return with them. Tatiana's parents offered to raise Belinus as
their own grandchild, and even looked at Tessa as their own daughter. This also
brought Tessa closer to Tatiana, who she now sees as a sister.

Upon her returning, she worked with Tatiana and Blizt a short while with some
troubles between Crusaders and the Rangers. After that issue calmed down, she
sought to join the Shaolin. She was accepted by Master Stilgar, as proof that
troubles between herself and Stilgar (from during her times as a Shadow Lurker)
had truly ended.
