Lord Elthyr O'Glorion

Lord Elthyr O'Glorion was born in the early spring of the year 1003 A.A. He was born to Lord Landar O'Glorion, the standing Lord of the O'Glorion clan, son of the legendary Tiryc O'Glorion. The family was in its pride, and Lord Landar's first and only child was a testament to this. Born with the telltale shimmering golden hair and piercing emerald eyes of the O'Glorion clan, his father would spare no expense to prepare him to rule the family.

But all was not well. The O'Glorion family manor, filled with many liveried servants and faithful knights and guards, had long shown the family's loyalty to the queen. Many of their possessions had been gifts from the queen from generations past for faithful service and devotion. But through the bustle of servants and the eloquent speeches at feasts, the Lady Elayna was ill. She had long grieved her husband's devotion to fighting for his people. She knew that one day, he would fall in battle. And now she had a son, and somehow she knew that he would be fatherless before long. Perhaps this was by some manner of Elven insight, or perhaps the nobility of her blood had once possessed some gift of foretelling. Either way, she was certainly right. The Lord Landar left on a routine scouting trip, to exterminate a small goblin encampment supposedly sighted in the mountains. He never returned. A goblin arrow had pierced his eye. (Read the rest of this story in OGlorionHistory) The Lady Elayna died from her grief, knowing that she could never raise a boy to become a warrior after what had happened to her husband. And so, little Elthyr was orphaned.

The O'Glorion manor was taken back by the government of ElvanDar for use as a strategic encampment. The O'Glorion knights, servants, and guards were sent back into the queen's service. Elthyr himself was raised by a former knight of his house, currently serving directly under the queen. He no longer had any claim to his true potential and heritage apart from his name.

His life with the former knight of his house was pleasant. However, long days in the Elven courtyard, trying to help but being too small or too young, grew quickly boring. Elthyr longed to regain the former might of his family, of which he only had faint memories. He asked his caretaker constantly about what the family had been like, trying to learn all he could. But this was not enough. He had spent 86 years with the man, and that was enough.

At his coming of age ceremony, he announced to everyone that he had made his decision. He would leave his unsatisfying life on the castle grounds and seek to return his family to its former glory. He would give anything at all to earn back a small part of his family's past wealth and land. Of course, this was not the most important thing, but it was the only way to earn respect.

Only a month into his quest, he met another young elf, much like himself. The elf called himself Zan'fiel, and apparently sought employment and service as a retainer to a noble family. Lord Elthyr narrated the story of his family, and made it known that being a retainer meant being accepted into the family. With this came the task of upholding the family's honor, and aiding in Lord Elthyr's quest. Zan'fiel accepted, saying he would give his life in service to his lord. That very day, Zan'fiel was appointed High Knight, advisor, and friend to the Lord Elthyr.

And so began the quest to regain the past glory of the O'Glorions...
