Berandus and Farinthul grew up together as neighbors but not friends. They were as different as two elves could be. While Farinthul was content to wander the woods lost in thought, Berandus was always focused on physical activities such as wrestling, running, and fighting. Farinthul the Elder, a prestigious warrior in the Shining City, gave up on his son becoming a warrior. Instead, he directed his attention to the young and promising Berandus, whose own father had disappeared somewhere in the Giat mountain range.
Farinthul only managed to best Berandus in one aspect, charm. When a young elven lass named Poswalia moved in close by, Farinthul easily won her heart. Berandus pretended not to mind, but it pained him to lose in a contest of any sort. A few short decades passed, and Farinthul married Poswalia. All who were close to them attended the ceremony. All except Berandus. Their relationship began to degrade shortly after the marriage, when Farinthul started to take his young wife for granted. What had started as a burning flame had quickly flickered out and died. Farinthul's neglect grew more pronounced each day, until he eventually left for several months telling no one where he was going.
Berandus heard of Farinthul's neglect and began hunting Poswalia as he would hunt elusive game. He played to her tangled emotions, lavished her with gifts and attention, and made insinuations about her husband's sexual preferences. His work paid off, when Farinthul returned to the city from his long hiatus. He wore on his finger a silver ring with a bloodstone afixed to it, in place of his old wedding band. Poswalia did not wait to ask who gave him the ring or stop to consider why he had been so cold to her. She left him and chose Berandus as her new mate. Farinthul was crushed.
He turned to Gwen, begging her to bring Poswalia back to him. It was not to be. He then asked for something much simpler. He asked her to ease his broken heart, to help him move on. Even this was never done. He could not blame the love goddess for neglecting him, since he had just done the same to his love.
He left Elvandar ashamed and sought refuge in literature and song, both within the human city of Arborea. From time to time he still prayed to Gwen in the mountains, when he was bored with constant reading. Farinthul's favorite story is a description of the first days when the humans came to Forostar, and about his father's encounter with a very old looking human in the forest one day. This story and a few others he especially wants to put down onto the parchment.

Story for Farinthul to be further developed
