1084 A.A., month of the naiad:
The threat of Amward, the ogre-demon
Shaglug, has been brought to an end by namely three - Lord Ishael
Silverarrow, Tribune Mathias of the Legion and Yegerfin of the Shaolin-Monks.
They challenged
Shaglug in western Amward, in his tower and eventually managed to slay the demon,
noticing that it was in fact not a demon, but a powerful magic creation - a shadow.
During this battle, Tribune Mathias lost his life. While Tribune Mathias' ghostly shape devotedly requested the clerics of Asral for a new mortal shape, the remaining two encountered the real threat behind
Shaglug's creation, a priest of the goddess 'Lilith', the "Mother" as been addressed to by Shagulg and his army.
Shaglug's plan worked out when he used this duel with The Three to trap them in his tower while his army was crossing the river Ulflenn using a reinforced trunk.
(At this point it is worth to mention some rumours. They tell that the ogre army which was hiding in the forest was trying to build some artillery weapons like huge, oversized ballistae but they soon had to give up when they were unable to finish even one ballista in time. Some gossip also says that the army never had the necessary brainwork to get the ballista to work, other rumour tells that the army was getting hungrier every day and risked to be discovered by patrolling Legionnaires meanwhile.)
The attack caught the old Legion Fortress by surprise, a cave-in initiated by some skavens caused the western part of the Fortress to collapse. Soon after this first cave-in the skavens attacked, using ladders and hooks to mount the walls while the breach was used by ogres, gnolls and other goblinoids to enter the fortress easily. Inside, after some minutes some trolls arrived using the cave-in to avoid daylight. The Legionnaires fought bravely but were completely outnumbered by sheer numbers. It said that only one who was fighting at the walls survived the fight ...
The skirmish ended in a huge desaster for the Legion, the goblinoid army won. (Sadly some goblins forgot to carry the wardrums to celebrate this victory, but this may be just another rumour.)
The fortress became a ruin ...
Afterwards, this main army retreated back into the forest from which they came from and thus avoided the risk of reinforcements sent against them deriving from
ArboRea,
ElvanDar or the always battle-eager Dwarves.
But two foray groups splitted from the main army, merging with some scattered bands of goblinoids near
BanDama and Cumberly, and raided those villages. The three aforementioned heros managed to break free at last, using a gift of Evren, a golden apple, to see the real shape of the tower.
With the help of the shaolin
KralThorg and the beeholder Kuzann, an old experienced dwarf, they managed to distract the foray groups and eventually killed almost all of them, saving the life's of many uninvolved.
A small team of goblins lead by Gruzta attempted to attack the western gate of
ArboRea, but were as well stopped by this team. Kuzann destroyed the bridge over the river Ulflenn to prevent another army entering the eastern plains. (Another rumour states that the lieutenant in charge of the army - who remains unknown - thought that the Legionnaires would cause the bridge to collapse as soon as an army would try to pass it. Thus they
avoided the bridge altogether.)
The trunk was too heavy and big to be removed with ease in a short time, so the decision what to do with it has been recessed. Since then few scouts monitor it.
Kuzann finally agreed to help building a completely new fortress.
